hackmarket
Simulated trading for the dev stack. hackmarket is a free trading game: an exchange whose listed contracts are developer tools and open-source projects on GitHub (coding agents like Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode, languages like Rust, Go and Python, runtimes like Bun). Prices move with each project's real GitHub activity (stars, pushes, merged pull requests, releases) through a market simulator.
Everything is played with play money: every trader starts with 50,000 HMX, which has no real-world value and can't be bought, sold or withdrawn. Prices are simulated, not real quotes, and nothing on hackmarket is financial advice. hackmarket is not affiliated with any listed project or company.
What you can do
- Trade on a live floor: market, limit and stop orders, take-profit and stop-loss brackets, an auto-trailing stop, positions and a journal of your trades.
- Read the market on a full chart with indicators, an order book and a heatmap of every contract.
- Talk with other traders in the floor chat and climb today's ranks.
- List a GitHub repository as a new contract once it meets the listing rules (5,000 stars or more, active, at least 30 days old).
- Get push notifications on iOS, Android and the Mac when your stop or target hits, and optional email recaps.

Signing in
You sign in with GitHub, Google or Apple to keep your account and its trades. When you sign in with Google, hackmarket receives your basic profile and email address only: the email address is used to identify your account and to send the account emails you choose in Settings, and is never shown to other traders. Your name from Google is not stored. Other traders see only the floor name (username) you pick.
How hackmarket handles your information is set out in the Privacy Policy; the rules of the game are in the Terms of Service. You can delete your account and its data at any time in Settings.
