hackmarket Terms of Service
Last updated: October 9, 2026
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of hackmarket, a free, non-commercial trading game available at https://hackmarket.dev and in our apps (the "Service"). The Service is operated by 127THOUSAND, LLC, a Nevada limited liability company ("hackmarket," "we," "us").
By signing in or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, and you confirm that you meet the age requirement in Section 3. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. hackmarket is a game
hackmarket is entertainment: a way to play at trading. Everything in it is pretend.
- Simulated market. Prices, quotes, charts, order books, trades, portfolios, balances, gains and losses are produced by our simulation and exist only inside the game. They are not real market prices or quotes, are not tied to any real market, and are not a measure of the value, quality, popularity or prospects of any company, project, product or brand.
- Play money only. HMX is the game's virtual play currency. It is not money, legal tender, electronic money, a cryptocurrency, a token, a security or any other financial instrument, and it is not backed by or convertible into anything. Every player starts with an amount of HMX at no cost.
- No real money, ever. You cannot deposit, buy, invest, stake, win, earn, sell or withdraw real money or anything of value through the Service. Nothing in the Service is a purchase or a bet, and the Service is not gambling.
- Symbols are game labels. Ticker-style symbols in the game (for example $CLD, $GO or $AGNT) are names for in-game markets. They are not securities, are not listed on any real exchange, and do not represent any ownership, debt, revenue share or other interest in anything.
- Not a financial service. hackmarket is not a broker, dealer, exchange, trading platform, investment adviser, fund or marketplace for securities, commodities, derivatives, digital assets or any other real asset.
- No advice. Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, trading, legal or tax advice. Results in the game say nothing about how you, or any strategy, would do with real money.
- Automated players. The game's market includes automated traders operated by us to provide prices and liquidity. Market behavior in the game is simulated.
- Not a contest. Unless we publish separate official rules for a specific event, no prizes or anything of value are awarded for in-game performance, rankings or leaderboard positions.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian's permission, and they accept these Terms on your behalf.
You sign in with a GitHub or Google account. We do not create or store a separate password for you. By signing in, you authorize us to receive the account information described in our Privacy Policy from GitHub or Google. Your use of those accounts is also governed by their own terms.
- You may hold one hackmarket account. Multiple accounts used to gain an advantage are not allowed.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your GitHub or Google account secure.
- If you revoke hackmarket's access in your GitHub or Google settings, you may lose access to your account until you sign in again.
4. Virtual currency and in-game prices
The Service uses virtual currency and virtual holdings ("Virtual Items"). We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use Virtual Items inside the game. You do not own them.
- Virtual Items have no monetary value and cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged or redeemed for money, goods, services or anything of value, inside or outside the Service.
- We may adjust, reset or remove Virtual Items at any time, for example at the start of a new season, to correct a bug, or to reverse gains from cheating or an exploit.
- In-game prices are produced by our own formulas and simulation, which may use public data such as GitHub repository activity. We may change these formulas at any time.
- We do not guarantee that prices, data or results are accurate, complete or continuously available. Errors, delays or outages create no obligation to you.
- Virtual Items are forfeited when your account is closed or terminated.
5. Third-party projects, names and data
The game lists programming languages, runtimes, tools, coding agents and other projects and products. They appear only to identify what each in-game market follows.
- No affiliation or endorsement. hackmarket is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any listed project, product or company, their maintainers or owners, or by GitHub, Inc. or Google LLC.
- Trademarks. All project and product names, trademarks and logos belong to their respective owners. Their use in the Service is for identification only and does not imply any relationship. The Service shows its own symbols, not the projects' logos.
- Public data. In-game prices may be influenced by public repository activity obtained through GitHub's API and subject to GitHub's terms. That data is an input to a game, not a statement about any project.
- Removal requests. If you own or maintain a listed project or product and want it removed or renamed in the game, contact us at [email protected].
6. Leaderboards, profiles, the floor chat and acceptable use
Other signed-in players can see your username, avatar and in-game results on leaderboards and on your player profile, including your open in-game positions and your recent daily results, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may change or remove any username or content we consider offensive, misleading or infringing.
The floor chat is visible to every signed-in player. It shows the messages players send, and the floor's activity: when players join or come online, their in-game trades (unless they switch that off in Settings) and moves in today's top 10. Messages are kept for 7 days. You are responsible for what you post. We may remove any message, and limit or suspend chat access, at any time. You can delete your own messages, mute other players and report messages to us.
You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts or automation to trade or to access the Service, except through any API we expressly offer;
- exploit bugs, manipulate in-game prices or coordinate with others to distort rankings;
- create multiple accounts, share accounts, or sell or trade accounts or Virtual Items;
- impersonate any person, project or organization, including suggesting an endorsement that does not exist;
- present in-game results as real trading performance, investment returns or financial advice;
- harass, threaten or abuse other players, post spam, unlawful, hateful or sexual content, or share anyone's personal information in the chat or anywhere else in the Service;
- interfere with the Service's security or operation;
- scrape or copy the Service, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows.
We may reset Virtual Items, remove rankings, or suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of anything you submit, such as your username, chat messages or feedback. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it to operate and improve the Service, which includes showing your chat messages to other players. If you send us suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings, then Delete account), or ask us to by emailing [email protected]. Deleting your account is permanent: your Virtual Items, rankings and username are gone and cannot be restored. We may delete accounts that have been inactive for a long time, together with their Virtual Items. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you break these Terms, or if we change or discontinue the Service. We may change, suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. Sections 2, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 survive termination.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that in-game prices, data or results are accurate. You use the Service at your own risk, and you are solely responsible for any decisions you make outside the game.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, hackmarket and its members, managers, employees and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, investments or Virtual Items, including any loss you incur by acting outside the game on anything you saw in it. Because the Service is free, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold hackmarket harmless from claims arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Clark County, Nevada, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will notify you in the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
